This qualification is suitable for all workers in a health and social care setting. You must be in paid or voluntary work to enable assessment of workplace competence to take place. The qualification is suitable for you if your current job role is within, for example, a residential setting, primary care environment, day services, personal assistance and domiciliary services. It provides you with formal recognition of competence and is suitable for you if you are working in a variety of roles in health, social care or children
and young people’s settings.

You could be an experienced health and social care worker, looking to add a recognised qulaification under your belt, or an adult seeking a second chance to gain recognition at an age at which taking an apprenticeship is no longer appropriate.

While there are no formal entry requirements, you should be able to work at level 2 or above and be proficient in the use of English Language.

This TQUK accredited level 3 diploma in Health and Social Care is a great course for you if you wish to actively pursue a career in health and social care in the UK. Ideally, you would already be working in a health and social care setting.

In the mandatory units, you will cover communication, personal development, equality and inclusion, duty of care, safeguarding, health and safety, handling information, person centred approaches and the role of the health and social care worker. The optional units are grouped into pathways with a wide range of relevant topics
including: prevention and control of infection, essentials of first aid, equality and diversity, advocacy, substance awareness and working with dementia and supporting individuals in a variety of contexts to provide you with the flexibility to choose subjects relevant to your job role.

The pathways are : Generic; Dementia; AdultYou must achieve a minimum of 58 credits: 28 credits from the
Mandatory and a minimum of 30 credits from one of the Pathways

Assessment is through a portfolio of evidence which includes observation in the workplace by an assessor
You must achieve all learning outcomes achieve a Pass – there is no grading requirement for trainers, assessors
and internal quality assurers (IVs)
